My system is XP home. VC 6.0 - sp5 I open a new project in VC6.0, just when I input a letter, like "#", the whole text edit area in vc becomes empty! Then the vc 6.0 crashes! The error message is below
AppName: msdev.exe AppVer: 6.0.8168.2 ModName: gdi32.dll ModVer: 5.1.2600.2180 Offset: 00007ecd
Who can help! Thanks a lot! |

I don't know! I use VA 1246 in my desktop which is win2k, it's no problem. But in my laptop, it doesn't work! Each time, just after I input one letter, the vc6 crashed! It's too bad!:(

Do you have any other add-ins installed? Check Tools|Customize|Add-ins. If so, disable them temporarily to see if you have a conflict.
Do you have a valid license for VA? If not, are you running in trial mode? |

Something is unique about your environment. What you test should work fine. The trick is to determine what is different.
Do you have a localized copy of the IDE?
Are you running in Virtual PC?
Anything unusual about your IDE settings? Installation process? |

I don't have a localized copy of the IDE, and I am not running in Virtual PC either. The installation process has not any problems.
It seems that the VC will crash, once I use the SHIFT+key. It's so wierd!

You might try reinstalling the IDE. |

The suggestion you gave has been tried! But it is still no use!:( By the way, I have found the reason of the problem. Because one of my programs which is running on the background used SHIFT+KEY to capture the information on the screen, so when I use the SHIFT+KEY in the vc6, this program will try to capture the information on the screen. It seems that a confliction happens between it and vax. It's weird! I have to disable the program, to make vax work well! It's not a good experience!:(

could you change the key combination that the screen grabbing programs uses to one that does not conflict with VAX?
i often use the "print screen" button to grab screen captures myself, which doesnt confict with anything. |
