A suggestion.
I use my Visual Studio both as a Win32 developing environment and as an editor for writing code for some custom hardware platforms. The trouble is that each of the platforms introduces a separate symbol set, which is impossible to handle by current VA settings.
What I had in mind... Would it possible to define multiple sets of includes and then, for example, select which one will be used from a combo placed in VA toolbar? |

Yes, that would be it if I could define more than one custom environment and I wouldn't have to restart Visual Studio to perform the symbol change.
If those two would be implemented, then it might be smart to make a copy of symbol-sets combo in VA's toolbar.
It's nothing to die for, but, I could make a use of such an option. Probably few other people as well...

i have put in a request for allowing more than one custom configuration:
case=547
when you change configurations VA has to re-parse all of the files to get the up to date symbol definitions. since logically you have to change projects in order to use the new symbol definitions it is not unreasonable to have to restart the IDE for the change to take effect. |

Use the copy and paste buttons in the dialog where you set the Custom directories. At least you can move them in and out easily. |

I don't see why each symbol set couldn't be placed in a separate directory, so, reparsing wouldn't be mandatory.

We agree we could make life easier. No question. In the meantime, there is a workaround.
Install VA X and load one project. Wait until parsing is finished. Exit your IDE and move the VA X installation directory aside. Reinstall VA X and load the next project. Move the VA X installation directory aside. Repeat for the 3rd project.
When you want to switch projects, exit your IDE and move the proper VA X directory into place. |
