Hello,
I'm using Visual Studio .net 2003 (English) and whenever I perform a "find in files" (the studio function) the cpu-locks up, i.e. some thread starts to spinlock. This is easy to verify by just having the taskmanager in the corner. Everything works fine though - UNTIL I search again, och use some other studio/vassist functions, at which point the whole devenv will crash horribly - (and upon recovery vassist will sometimes think that it's autobackedup files are newer then what I changed after I did the search, which is of course wrong).
Although the function that triggers the bug isn't in vassist, but I've never had a problem with this before installing vassist. Find in files using total commander isn't quite as nice as doing it from the ide...

i often use vs2003 and find in files, and i have never had this happen. are you doing a find with a solution open or with no solution open?
does this happen with different solutions, or only with one specific solution?
how reproducible is this problem?
do you have any other plugin's installed? have you tried disabling any anti-virus programs to see if that makes a difference? this is a long shot, but because you are scanning files it may make a difference. |

mnd do any of my questions above apply to you?
next time this happens could you attach a second copy of the IDE to the locked up IDE, get a call stack and then post this information, along with details of your setup?
