I just installed the update to Visual Assist X (10.1.1416) and now Files in Workspace is always empty. When I disable VAX and try opening a file in the standard FileView tab, I get "Failed to create empty document". The Open File dialog (Ctrl O) doesn't come up. Everything was working great in 10.1.1287. I guess my next step in to remove and re-install some version. Any ideas of what went wrong. Actually things seemed to work OK for a brief period after installing the update. I also tried deleting the cache folder contents to force a rescan - didn't help.

After uninstalling / reinstalling, still broken and VAX options box visually messed up - no buttons on left, no title bar. Next will try previous build.

Uninstalled, deleted everything, rebooted and re-installed build 1287. Now it works. Might try 1301. I wonder if there is a problem with 1416 on VC6?

Everything seems to be fine in 1301:

VC6 + VA 1416 seem fine for me. the VA options dialog is working correctly, VA's OFIW dialog appears and lists files, and files are listed in the IDE's "file view" list.

do you have any other plugin's installed? anything "odd" about your system that might be relevant?

Everything is odd about my environment. Things like ObjectDock Plus from Stardock, ToggleMouse, FileBox Extender, Clipomatic, MacroExpress, eBay Alert, MemTurbo, MSN Desktop Search, Microsoft Antispyware.

Some glich must have occurred and I don't want to go through re-installing to try the latest build and find it broken again. Maybe I will wait for another build. I really like the software and I'm not sure there is anything after build 1301 that I need or that would fix a problem I might run into.

1416 doesn't display Files in Workspace properly for me either in VC6. It seems to display the files in current project instead.

1301 works just fine.

Well thanks for settling the question. I hope someone fixes it and mentions the fix in a future build. I would like to move to VS 2005, but that probably won't happen until we start making money.

keep an eye out for new builds, and check the history link when one is released to see if this has been fixed.

also the threads involved should be updated when a fix is released.
