Hello,
When I shift-rt-click in a cpp editor window, I used to get a VAX context menu. Now, it immediately invokes the 'find symbol' command. I had this problem in an earlier release where it was always invoking the 'comment selection with /*...*/' command. When I upgraded to 1418, the problem was solved for awhile - but has just reappeared. Any chance this is a known issue with a work around available?
Im using build 1418 in VC7.1.
Thanks, Paul

odd - not a known issue... any chance you're hitting the 's' key when you release the shift key? do you have any other addins installed? does it happen if you rt-click (no shift) in the selection margin? |

Rt-clicking in the selection margin works fine. (Excellent, there's my work around. I had no idea this also invoked the VAX context menu).
I am not hitting the 's' key while releasing the RMB or shift key.
Upon releasing the RMB (right mouse button), I can briefly see the VAX context menu. The menu is immediately dismissed, and the 'search symbol' command is invoked.
Again, I experienced this before but the problem was solved (temporarily) when I installed 1418 -- now it's back.

Do you use sticky keys or anything out of the ordinary like that? Or an addin or desktop util that installs a keyboard hook?
It's as if there is a 's' in the message queue that the menu is responding to (since that is the menu shortcut for 'Find symbol'). In the previous problem it's as if there were a '*' in the message queue (since that is the menu shortcut for 'comment selection with /**/').

Nope, no other add-ins or utils. What exactly are "sticky keys?"
I agree, it acts like there's a queued up message.
The strange thing about it is that it was working fine, then it suddenly stopped working. I did not install any other tool or change any configuration when it stopped working.

sticky keys is a Windows accessibility feature - it gets turned on if you hold down a shift key for a few seconds.
Which OS are you using?

Hello, I have exactly the same problem as pwc. Currently I use a keyboard shortcut as workaround, but a real solution would be great. I use also build 1418 in VC7.1. The Windows XP sticky keys are off. Desktop apps with global shortcuts are AltDesk and Linkman ( but both do not use Shift-RightClick ). Addins are Rational Rose and ProjectLineCounter. Right click in a selected region pops up the default VisualStudio context dialog, not the VAX one.
BTW: absolutely great app, never want to work without it again.
All the best, Ralf |

Ralf if you tell the other two addin's not to run on startup via the IDE tools menu -> Add-in manager does this make any difference?
the only other obvious thing to try is the current beta, 1428, to see if that makes any difference. |

Feline,
directly after my last post I moved to 1428, because of the redesigned autotext stuff. After installing 1428 the problems disapeared.
BUT: yesterday I moved to a newer DirectX SDK. Obviously the installation of DirectX has resettet something in the studio, because some toolbars were gone. And today I had the same problems as in my first posting. So I tried to install 1428 again and the problems are gone.
