Btw 1428 is awesome! Fixes all the multithreaded issues, etc, everything I was complaining about. Good job guys!
1. One thing though: when I click on the context bar for a file that has many functions defined, and start typing, it is really slow. The whole list of functions flickers big time every character I type. This used to work fine in 1418.
2. Why can't you copy from the Context bar? This is a basic feature and would be really useful.
3. Shift + Home doesn't select the entire text in the Context bar. This is instinctively what I do if I enter something wrong and want to start over, but it doesn't work in this custom edit control...
Cheers,

point 1, which IDE and language are you using? what is the ball park size of the file in question and how many functions does it have in it?
point 2, i can. i am using VS 2003 and VA 1428. i have been doing a lot of copying of text from the definition field of late, mainly file names. i have just tested it in the context field and i can copy text from there as well.
point 3, a known bug

i'm using vc6 english, and the file in question has 72000 lines and 5 pages of functions in the context dropdown. Hmmm, it doesn't seem to do it now anymore. Perhaps there is another condition... not sure what it is yet. |

Right-click + Copy works, but Control+C doesn't. Who right clicks to copy anyways? ;) |

with regard to a response - give me a day or two to get there. i do get there, but when the forum is busy, or there is a lot of work to do it can take me a few days. recently i have been grappling with my computer monitor, and no monitor, no posting.
using VC6 with 1428 if i left click into either the context or definition fields (the ones provided by VA) then CTRL-C copies the selected text for me just fine. i am using a small test C++ project and pasting the text into notepad.
i have just tried this using a medium size C++ project, and again CTRL-C works just fine.
this machine is running under win2k on the off chance this matters.
i do not have any scroll bar on the alt-m list either, and i would call this quite normal. there is no scroll bar in VS2003 either. this list is designed to be filtered as you type, thus only showing you a small number of matches. when you have this many functions scrolling through the full list is rather daunting. |

sorry about bugging ! i didn't know you were flying blind. :)
i don't know what to say, but my Control+C *never* works in either the context nor definition fields. it works everywhere else but.
any ideas why this wouldn't work?
also, i still think it would be great to have a scrollbar, so you could just browse through the filtered or unfiltered functions and select one, rather than having to type. it may be normal, but not that great maybe... ;)

one monitor is on the way out, and i am trying to sort out a successful replacement. it is happening, but it takes time *shrug*
as for this, off hand i really am not sure. you mention having an English VC6, does this mean that you have a non English OS install? i am grasping at straws here to be honest. the only reason i can see for CTRL-C not working is if no text is highlighted. the context and definition fields can be rather sensitive about getting the text selected, but i presume you are used to this.
i have put in a request to add a scroll bar when the list is long enough to use one

i only mentioned i have an english vc6 cause you asked. i have an english os install too...
i can get it to copy the odd time, but it is very hard, and i'm not sure how i actually got it to copy. some kind of erratic clicks, selection, then Control+C... hmmm |

i will ask support, since i haven't got a clue to be honest. so long as i can get the text to be highlighted the CTRL-C just works for me. if CTRL-C works as expected most of the time then this seems to rule out any other process catching this key press and getting in the way. |
