Click Item In "Find Symbol Results" Window, The new window will open in Right Part Of the doduments tab Window, the VS will cause be freezen.
My Version#65306;
Disabling VAX will no longer cause this problem.

How are you triggering this window to appear?
This isn't the results window from VA's Find References, and it isn't the window I get when doing an IDE Find in File.
It looks like a different Find References output window, but I am not sure how to get to it.
Have you been using this window for a while, or is it a command you have just started using? I am wondering if this has just broken, and if so, if you have any idea what might have changed to trigger this hang. |

If a function of the same name exists in both namespaces, right-click and click "Go to Definition" and this window will appear. The URL for the animation is shown above.
This problem has been around for a long time, but the freeze time in versions 2024.6 and earlier was not so long. |

Thank you for the video.
I now have some test code here that makes this dialog appear, but there is no sign of any freeze for me.
Is this freeze a solution specific problem, or do you see it in more than one solution?
How many files do you have in your solution?
If you open VA's Open File in Solution dialog (Alt-Shift-O) the title bar contains two numbers. The first number is the number of files currently listed, which changes as you filter the list. The second number is the total number of files in the list, which is normally the number of files in your solution. What is this second number? This will give me a sense of scale, in case solution size matters. |

It doesn't matter how many files there are. I only have 37 files. It matters where the document window pops up. This problem will only be triggered when it pops up on the right side of the tab bar. You can try it a few more times after closing all open document windows or try a few more projects to trigger this problem.
The above video is recorded using VAX 2024.6. Newer versions will cause VS to freeze for longer periods of time. |

The file isn't opening in that position for me. Can you please export your IDE settings and send them to me:
IDE tools menu -> Import and Export Settings -> Export selected environment settings
I can then import them here and see if I can reproduce the problem.

I have the settings, thank you for these:
case=165350
But the tab does not open to the right for me, even with your settings imported.
Looking at your videos, I don't get the same font in the editor when I import your settings. Did you export all of your IDE settings, or just some of them?
I recognise the tab opening to the right, but I don't know why it isn't opening there for me.
I have checked, and I have all of the following IDE options turned On:
IDE Options -> Environment -> Tabs and Windows -> Preview Tab -> Allow new files to be opened in the preview tab
IDE Options -> Environment -> Tabs and Windows -> Preview Tab -> Preview selected files in Solution Explorer
IDE Options -> Environment -> Tabs and Windows -> Preview Tab -> Preview selected files in Find Results
IDE Options -> Environment -> Tabs and Windows -> Preview Tab -> Preview selected files in Navigate To
I have even checked on 3 different machines, with and without VA installed. I no longer get the tab to the right.
Does turning off the preview tab setting stop the files opening to the right for you? |

Yes, you are right, Thanks. When I uncheck "Allow new files to be opened in the preview tab" button, My VS do not be freezen again, and the document window no longer pops up in the right tab.
And I send my new vs ide setting after I set the language to English.
My operating system version is Windows 11 Professional 23H2 22631.4602, and the local display language is Simplified Chinese. If you really can't reproduce the problem, you can try to install this system in a virtual machine and then install VS2022.
