Only standard C++, C#, J# and (of course) VAssist X.

This crash usally occurs when I try close IDE window, but have several unsaved sources. IDE shows dialog which offers me to save these files, and I accept it. Main window hides from screen, but Taskbar shows button "Microsoft Developme...", and after few seconds I get crash window.

I too crash on exit 100% (and some of my collegues as well).
Even with not one single document opened.
I was crashing with 1216.
I am still crashing with 1218.
The problem is obviously betwen "Visual Assist X" and "ProDG Visual Studio .NET Integration" as disactivating one of them fixes the issue.
Previous version of Visual Assist were known to be incompatible with this this add-in.

I am using this version:
ProDG Visual Studio .NET Integration
Version 1.2.2 (beta)

The two crashes were unrelated. We took a stab at the ProDG crash since we do not actually have the addin.

We believe the latest crash report is fixed in 1219.

I crash 100% of the time on exit of VS.NET 2003. This has happened with builds 1216, 1218, and 1219.

I am running no other add-ins in VS except for VAX.

Ok. I have uninstalled 1218 and installed 1219. The crash resulting of a conflict with the ProDG add-in has moved.
It seems to be crashing farther down the exit chain. However, it still crashes. It is still linked with the conflict as deactivating either add-in makes the crash go away.
Below is the crash info. By the way, any chance for you to contact snsystem ([email protected]) and get a trail version of their plug-ins so you can experience the problem on your side?
Thanks.

I lied before. I do have another VS.NET add-in installed. I have Compuware's Boundschecker installed (version 7.1). Don't know how I overlooked that. Anyway I get error messages like the following:

Error Message:
Unhandled exception at 0x0202d0f0 in devenv.exe: 0xC0000005: Access violation reading location 0x0202d0f0.

The VAX dlls (assuming just the 2, VA_X.dll and VANETPatch.dll, are supposed to be in there) are not listed in the call stacks for any of the threads. If you open up the Modules list on the exe, both of the VAX DLLs are listed as loaded up in the exe but they show different icon next to them. I am not sure what the icon actually means but it has a little red circle with an exclamation point in it (this is only on the VANETPatch.dll module).

The VANETPatch.dll lists no version but the VA_X.dll lists 10.00.1219.0 as the version number.

The call stack of the offending thread looks like:

> 0202d0f0()
user32.dll!77d43a50()
user32.dll!77d43b1f()
user32.dll!77d444f5()
user32.dll!77d4b58e()
ntdll.dll!77f75da3()
user32.dll!77d4582b()
user32.dll!77d46927()
user32.dll!77d45be0()
msenv.dll!500a4b51()
ntdll.dll!77f701a1()
ntdll.dll!77fa3694()

That doesn't seem very useful. If you want I can install the debug symbols to try and give more information.

I get this crash on exit every time. It still seems to be a conflict with VSI.NET because it doesn't happen if I uninstall that. Can you please look at this again? I'm sure SN Systems would work with you to fix the problem...

Build 1220 includes yet another fix for crash on exit when ProDG is installed. Fix applies to other add-ins as well.

I am still crashing when exitting the IDE. I have the Compuware Boundschecker add-in installed as well as VAX. If I uninstall VAX I no longer crash. If I unistall VAX and Boundschecker, then install VAX (so VAX is the only add-in installed) I still crash on exit.

After the crash I tried clicking on the Debug button on the crash dialog and debugging devenv.exe at that point. I get this dialog:

Unhandled exception at 0x0181d940 in devenv.exe: 0xc0000005: Access violation reading location 0x018d940.

I have tried every VAX version you have released

We cannot find any modules that load at that address "0x0181d940", on any of our test systems. If you break into a running instance of VS.NET and look at that address? What module is that in? Do you have symbols for that address?

Okay. I unistalled Boundschecker and used WinDbg to attach to devenv.exe. When I shutdown devenv.exe I received the same error but at address 0x018ad940. Here is the line from WinDbg's command window:

After looking more closely at the loaded modules, I noticed something: "C:\\Program Files\\Starbase\\CodeWright7.5eval\\CWVS7Adin.dll".

I had no idea CodeWright installed an add-in. Well, after uninstalling CodeWright 7.5 Evaluation I no longer crash on exit.

So, it *seems* like there is some incompatibility between CodeWright's add-in and VAX. (I don't know if this helps or not, but the CodeWright evaluation was expired).

I confirmed there is some incompatibility between CodeWright's add-in and VAX.
With the removal of CodwWright 7.5 the IDE no longer crashes when I exit.

if this is Codewright from Borland then it is mentioned on the known problems page that VAX is not compatible. from memory the description is that both VAX and Codewright are trying to "run" the editor, the IDE does not know about either plugin, and the two plugin's clash.

zen is the art of being at one with the two'ness
