Hello -
In the Listboxes options page in the Options Dialog I see no option for "Only popup listboxes when requested". How can I configure VA to only popup something when I do a specific action (other then normal typing)?
I often find when I move the insertion point and type something that VA automatically brings up a dialog over the text that I want to click in next.
Thanks! Brent

Try turning off these options:
VA Options -> Advanced -> Suggestions -> Include suggestions in listboxes VA Options -> Advanced -> Suggestions -> Include VA Snippets in listboxes
Is this what you are looking for? |

Thanks! I will try this out. However, from the wording I am not sure. I do want suggestions and VA snippets in listboxes. What I want is that listboxes don't appear automatically, only when I ask for a listbox to appear.

As far as I know, you cannot do it. There is an option to not list members automatically, so you can press ctrl+space to do it manually:
VA Options -> Advanced -> C/C++ 6.0 -> Auto list members
This is what you are looking for, but I don't know any similar option for suggestions... |

Unfortunately suggestions cannot be triggered manually. If you press CTRL-SPACE then you get a "full list", rather than just the current best guesses.
As accord says, you can limit when listboxes appear by changing VA and IDE options, but if you turn off suggestions then they are always off.
VA Snippets can be triggered manually though, if this helps. Typing "if" and then pressing CTRL-SPACE includes my VA Snippets with the shortcut "if" in the listbox, and you can bind a keyboard shortcut to the command "VAssistX.VaSnippetInsert" if you want, to show all of your VA snippets for the current language. |
