Hi
I am contemplating buying Code Rush to supplement VAX . All I can find is relative old stuff about compatability when both are installed.
Whats the current state of play of having the two addins installed simultaneously ?

I am not aware of any compatibility problems, and I am not seeing any open bug reports. It is common for users to report using VA along side another addin, and we work hard to make sure that this works well.
The only thing to watch out for is asking two addin's to do the same thing at the same time, for example highlighting the current line in the editor, since the display effect might be odd as a result.
If you run into any problems please let us know, and we will do what we can to fix them.
I deleted the duplicate thread that got created somehow, so that's where it went if you are wondering. |

Thanks Feline
I had seen report years ago about some issues but I was sure there are none , now.
For interest I have been running the 2 together for a few days now and see no issues , other than the refactoring glyphs clash, but I can turn VAX's off.
What I want to do is run VAX for Outliner/VA View/Intellesence as I still believe these are best of breed and Coderush for Code "Injection" and Refactoring.
I have been using R# and VAX together as well with no obvious oddities, but I believe you supress some features when they are co-resident , is that the case . What do you switch off.
With R#'s new release giving some strange performance issues, I am looking for an alternative mix to drop R# altogether , however difficult that may be.
If I see any funnies , I'll be sure to let you know
Cheers

When ReSharper is installed and active VA automatically does the following:
* auto-insertion of braces and parens are controlled to avoid compatibility problems * suggestion overlap: if resharper's listbox comes up, we clear our suggestions [if any] and set a flag to prevent any further VA suggestions in non c++ files until the next restart of the IDE.
Hopefully you will be successful in finding a good combination of plugins to help you out here, and they will run without any problems.
Obviously if you do run into any problems please let us know, and we will do what we can to help resolve them. |
