Hi,

my Visual Assist is often not available. If not I need to end all Visual Studio 2005 instance and restart Visual Assist. This happpens about every second day.

Visual Assist is not available means, almost everything in the menu VAssistX is grey. VA View, VA Outline is without any function. The code isn't colored. There is no function of Visual Assist available.

It happens to one instances of VS. Every instance I start after on instance is "damaged" has no VA function, until I exit all VS instances.

Are you getting any error messages when this happens, perhaps a message telling you that your license count has been exceeded?

How are you loading the IDE? Are you holding down the Shift key and left clicking with the mouse on the taskbar entry for the IDE to load a second instance of the IDE? If so, please middle click with the mouse instead, avoiding the Shift key.

Older IDE's don't load any extensions if you load the IDE with the Shift key held down. This is something that the IDE does, that VA has no control over, so we cannot stop it happening.

I don't get any message.

Sometimes I am loading the IDE with the shift key. I will load a second instance with a middle click in the future.

Thanks

Thank you for the update. Its almost certain that holding down the Shift key is the cause of the problems you are seeing. If you still see problems after using the middle mouse button to open the IDE please tell us, and we will see what else might be going on here.

Thank you. I haven't seen this behaviour anymore. It seems to be solved. :)
