I am not able to reproduce this problem here, using your code. Note that the function "date" is being underlined as a mistyped symbol, and if you are using VS2010 or above, as the colouring applies, then the underlining is coming from the IDE. Since the function is being underlined, there is something wrong with the code, and if there is something wrong with the code, this may well be confusing VA's colouring as well.

The code was compiling at the time, although some variations with inline method implementations vs. implementations in the CPP had problems in the IDE.

If you close and reload the files are you still seeing this problem? Since I am not seeing the same problem here, it suggests something in the file content is the trigger.
