Whenever I install VA or its updates, like the most recent one, some of the XAML editor setting for VS2013 get altered

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\\Software\\Microsoft\\VisualStudio\\12.0\\Text Editor\\XAML

The values for Auto List Members, Auto List Params, and Brace Completion get set to 0 after installation and I have to go back in with Regedit and set them to 1.

Are you sure this is down to VA? I have just installed VA 2048, into a Windows 7 64bit system, and I am not seeing any sign of this problem, even after several different tests. The XAML settings, both in the registry and the IDE options dlaing, are always left unchanged by installing VA.

Is it possible this is somehow related to another extension you have installed, or even an interaction between VA and another extension?

This is happening on a new laptop with VA being the only extensions that I have installed. The same thing is happening on a desktop system, where I also have ReSharper installed. It has been chronic problem for some time now. I'm running on Windows 8.1 Pro.

Well that's fairly clear cut. Unfortunately I still cannot reproduce this here. I have now tested on a clean Windows 8.1 machine, so no VA installed to start with. I set the registry settings correctly, and then installed VA 2042. There was no change to the settings before or after loading and closing VS2013.

I then upgraded to VA 2043 and 2047 in order, checking the settings at each stage, and again there was no change to the settings.

So its not quite as simple as just install or update VA to trigger this.

How are you installing / updating VA?

Is there anything unusual about your system that I should know?

Can you please export your VA and IDE settings and send them to me:

VA Options -> Performance -> Export Settings
IDE tools menu -> Import and Export Settings -> Export selected environment settings

I can then import them here and see if I can reproduce the problem. Please submit the files via the form:

including this thread ID or URL in the description, so we can match it up.

I sent my configuration files via the contact form.

There's nothing extraordinary about my setup. I have a new Dell XPS 15 laptop with just the basic stuff installed - VS 2013, Visual Assist, Office 2013, etc.

I installed VA directly from the downloads from your web site.

I have the files, thank you for this. I have replied via email, to make any future file transfers easier.
