Note: I just found the options to turn off the syntax coloring for other windows in the options. Should have checked that first. But it would still be nice if those options were enabled for the windows in which syntax coloring is applied to be drawn with the background color from the editor window.
The colors in the VA View window use the syntax coloring settings used by the main editor window - which is fine - but don't use the background color from the window - which causes problems.
Should probably use a different color scheme for the va view window, use icons instead of colors, or (probably most preferable) use the background color from the editor window.
I did; note the edit I made to my post regarding that.
However, it would still be beneficial to be able to change the background of the other windows to match the source window to allow colorizing to occur even if the user's color scheme is only dark for programming work.
