Hopefully this gets resolved fairly quickly. Licensing isn't always a simple problem to solve, especially when you can install the software on more than one system.

Why a legal user can't use this product after a few activations?
I was basically told I had to buy a new license because I exceeded number of registrations and
I was never made aware of that limit or number of registrations allowed.
If you have limit you should provide a way to transfer the license from one installation to another.
Due the nature of my usage I had to reinstall my system several times and each time I had to activate VA.
I own a several different products and never had any problem with activation.

Very disappointed!

Can you please try emailing our license department at [email protected], hopefully they can help you with this.

In general, various products I have used do require activation, and different products have different activation policies. It's not ideal, especially if you change your system a lot, but its not that rare either, for what that's worth.

Yes this was the first thing I did. No help from them.

I trusted the statement that I can use VA for as long as it suites me (the latest version included in my subscription), that's not true

I assume your current license has expired? Have you moved systems a lot? This isn't something most people run into, so I am wondering if you have any sense of how many times you have changed systems.

Yes it basically just expired. I have two laptops and desktop. I upgraded one laptop and desktop. So I think I registered VA 5-6 times? If I knew it has limit (or such a low limit) I would be more careful. But it does not indicate how many times I installed it. I would have renewed but I was thinking I am ok for one more year using last VA. Now I am not sure if I will go back.
I also installed several dev env in VMs for testing and debugging (I would not registered VA there if I knew about the limit, this is what I think is not fair).

I have tried requesting a legacy key as I would like to use older builds of VA that still supports VC6 and Windows XP. However, I being told that they cannot provide me with a legacy key as the perpetual licenses that I own have been purchased after 2019. I have no issue with purchasing a legacy license but I assume this is not something Whole Tomato supports, at least I did not get a reply to this. Should I just forget about using VA on legacy operating systems?

I can ask about the legacy key for you, but is it just VC6 you are trying to use? Or are you trying to use another version of Visual Studio as well?

Which version of VA are you trying to use?

The last version of VA that is noted to have fixes for VC6 was VA 2331, and this version supports the new license key.

It would be VC6 and Visual Studio .NET 2003 (VC7.1). I believe both of these are not supported (or needs unofficial workarounds at least) to work on operating systems later than Windows XP. The software would also target legacy Windows 9x and XP so Windows XP as the host Operating System fits best.

According to this https://www.wholetomato.com/kb/c/compatibility-with-old-versions-of-windows-and-visual-studio 2258.5 is the last version to be compatible with Windows XP and version 2118 is the last to carry official Windows XP support. Both versions were releases prior to the license change.

That will cause this problem.

I have asked about this, to see what we can organise. Our sales department only sells new licenses, and doesn't deal with the old style 2 line license keys, so we need a different approach here.

Thanks for investigating and fingers crossed you will be able to figure something out.
