This function seems to come from VA.
I always have to press ESC.

Can you please tell me where I can turn this off?

Thanks, Axel

Do you have:

VA Options -> Highlighting -> Highlight results of Quick Find and Find in Files

turned On of Off? Not sure what else would be triggering this, if it isn't this option.

The option was on. If I deactivate this the highlighting disapear. Thanks.

I see no difference (except the highlighted ") if I switch the option. The search results are highlighted. Is this a feature what VS copied from VA?

It depends on your version of Visual Studio, but yes, there is some overlap between our features at times

You might be interested in mapping the keyboard shortcut:

VAssistX.FindSelected

which I have mapped to Alt+K. This tells VA to highlight the symbol the keyboard caret is currently in, as if you had done an IDE find, without needing to trigger the find dialog. This can be useful to help you keep an eye on the uses of the symbol.

Sounds helpfully. But I can't see any effect. I change the short cut to Ctrl+Num 3 but also no effect.

That is unexpected. Can you please check:

IDE tools menu -> Options -> Environment -> Fonts and Colors -> Display items = VA Find Result

from your screen shot this should be set to showing the background in pale yellow.

If you turn:

VA Options -> Highlighting -> Highlight results of Quick Find and Find in Files

back on, then use CTRL+F on something in your code file, then move the caret away from it, in case you have highlighting the symbol under the caret enabled, is the symbol you used CTRL+F on shown with a yellow background?

The keyboard command "VAssistX.FindSelected" is working for me quite happily, even with the VA highlight quick find options disabled.

Which IDE and version of VA are you using?
