Yesterday, I ran a repair on my Visual Studio installation, and now I can't seem to use Visual Assist at all. I'm not sure if that is directly related. I have the latest version of VS 2022 Professional (17.14.21), and VS shows that VA is installed. However, under Extensions, I cannot see anything related to VA.

This can happen if VA isn't loading at all. I have encountered a bug in VS2026 that after disabling VA in the extension manager, and then enabling VA in the extension manager, VA fails to load. I mention this since it looks the same as what you are seeing here.
For VS2026, the only fix I have found so far is reinstalling VA. |

| Just double checked, VS2022 version 17.14.21, disabling VA, restarting VS2022, enabling VA and restarting again, and VA loads correctly. So that VS2026 bug hasn't suddenly appeared in the latest version of VS2022, at least not for me. |

Thanks for the quick reply. Disable - Enable worked for VS2022.
In a VM, I installed the latest version of VS2026 Insiders (version 11222.16).
Even after multiple attempts of Disable - Enable, VS is not displayed at all.
Is VA supported in Insiders?

VA 2588.0 is working just fine for me in the VS2026 insiders build 11222.16, which is the latest update I am being offered.
If you disable VA in the extension manager in VS2026, then VA does not come back when you enable it again. This is a known bug:
case=166040
So far the only solution I have found to this is reinstalling VA, no need to uninstall VA first. Also this only effects VS2026 as far as I can tell. |
