Build 1421 is available to those who really like beta software. Although we have been using the build ourselves for a week, a lot of code has changed so we anticipate some problems.
Our biggest change in this build is an entirely new parser for C/C++. The new parser is easier to maintain, hence we can address some of the long-standing issues with parsing of code. For one, build 1421 is better at parsing of templates and Managed C++.
Build 1421 also contains a new implementation of Autotext and Code Templates. The two features have been combined into a single feature called Autotext. The feature is much stronger than the previous independent features, and a completely new UI makes editing of Autotext simple. Get details of this new implementation at:

Build 1421 also contains a slew of bug fixes, some of which have been noted on this history page:

Reset of VS.NET is not required.
If you have custom Autotext (aka Code Templates), you should answer "No" to the prompt during install and NOT take the latest templates. Start your IDE after install so your existing files are converted to a new format. Then, merge the interesting entries in the Templates\\Latest\\*.tpl files into the files in use.
If you do not have custom Autotext, you should answer "Yes" to the prompt to get the latest files. Much has changed. The files shipped for C/C++ and C# are full of new and clever entries.

Please post your feedback to our forums.
If you are not covered by technical support, build 1421 will run in trial mode. |
