Sometimes the editor stops accepting certain characters. When this happens I can enter some characters but not others. Sometimes the condition goes away when I save the current file but not always. The condition always goes away when I disable VA.

I am running VS.Net 2003 and 2005 on the same machine and this began happening on both systems a few weeks ago with an earlier VA build. I installed 1445 and it seemed to go away but now has returned on 2005.

The most common character to freeze is the left paren but yesterday PageUp stopped working.

Do you have any other add-ins installed? (Check Tools|Add-in Manager.) If so, try disabling them temporarily and see if the issue goes away.

We prefer you disable the other addins "at Startup" and restart your IDE.

Visual Assist is the only add-in. This problem went away shortly after my last post but today it is back.

do you have any software installed / running that looks for global hotkeys, or that might be trapping key presses?

you could try the latest beta of VA to see if that helps, but i really don't know if it will or not.

We surmise the problem is related to something in your setup. Something is unusual. If it weren't, we'd get a slew of complaints for this one.

Watch for behavior that might trigger the problem.

Was there anything unusual about how your IDE got installed on this PC? Upgrades from beta or clean install of a release build?

Do you have coworkers with or without the problem?
