i have the email, thank you. can you try:

IDE tools menu -> Options -> Environment -> Fonts and Colors -> Use Defaults

very occasionally i have seen this problem myself, and every time i have had it this fixes the problem. if this does not help can you check for syntax highlighting from VA elsewhere, like tooltips? i can see highlighting on VA's wizard bar so something is happening here.

on a positive note it is nice to see someone other than me using that nice orange colour for function names, it makes them stand out so much more

ok i just opened up a workspace i haven't opened in a while, and VAX mysteriously started doing syntax highlighting again --- in all open instances of vc2005 (even the ones that were previous ly running without it).

BIZARRE...

*um*

yep, that says it all.

i don't recall ever hearing of this effect before. i am guessing, rather wildly, that something was locked, and that somehow opening the new workspace helped to free the lock. however this is so vague as to be useless.

i am hoping the syntax highlighting continues to work.

funny how it would stay not working over a couple of computer reboots... usually a reboot would do it... :)

*doh* this is just getting more confusing, not less. some temporary IDE files are persistent, the NCB file being the obvious one, but that still does not help explain what happened here.

does VAX store any temporary files, across reboots ?

none that i know of. the files generated while parsing the code, especially the stable include directories are kept across re-boots, but i would not call these temporary files myself.

it might make sense if these files were locked, but that does not explain why the lock stayed put, and was then suddenly free'd up like this.
