Whenever I select a function in the context field, the current window (containing the selected function) will be closed.

that does not happen to me, and i am using VS2005 and VA 1530 a lot.
* how are you opening the context field? are you pressing alt-m or using the mouse? * how are you selecting something from the list? * what programming language are you using? * can you reproduce this in a different project, or on a different machine? * do you have any other plugin's installed? * do you have a localised OS or IDE? * is there anything "odd" or unusual about your system?

It does no matter how I open it.

per mouse or per keyboard - makes no difference
quote: * what programming language are you using?
C and C++
quote: * can you reproduce this in a different project, or on a different machine?
On any project
quote: * do you have any other plugin's installed?
no
quote: * do you have a localised OS or IDE?
Yes - German / German.

Dual Monitor.
The current release version 10.2.1446.0 has no problems. I'm using Visual Assist for years now, but the problem is new. |

do you have any programs running that might be catching keyboard or mouse events, and thus interfering with the IDE? it seems unlikely, but not impossible, that this problem is caused by a German IDE and Windows, since we have other German users.
does it make any difference if you are editing or debugging?
i will ask support, since short of setting up a German system i am not sure what else to say. |

There are no keyboard or mouse events catching programs running. Debugging or editing makes no difference. |

Out of curiousity, does Right+Click in the Context field open a menu which allows you to copy?
Can you confirm you are copying from the Context field of the bar with the Goto button, i.e. not the IDE's navigation bar? |

I think you have not understand what I mean:
If I open the context box - as you may see in the animation above - and close the context box (no matter if I select a function or close the box with the down arrow button) the current document will be closed imediately.
VAX is the only Visual Studio plugin.

PS: yes, the clipboard context menu appears if I click into the context-box edit field with the right mouse button. |

thank you for the logs, i will ask about these.
i am wondering if your dual monitor setup is a factor. this seems unlikely, but nothing sounds like an obvious trigger.
do you have the main IDE window, with the context field, on the primary or secondary monitor? does it matter if you move it to the other monitor? in control panel -> display -> settings tab do you have one wide monitor listed, or two separate monitors? |

I have disabled dual monitor mode (removed second monitor) : problem still exists. It doesn't matter on witch monitor VS2005 runs. So dual monitor could not be the problem. |

From what we see in your logs, you enabled logging and closed the IDE.
Can you enable logging, reproduce the problem, then close the IDE? |

What keyboard mapping scheme do you use in vs2005? Have you made any customizations to it? |

I have replaced the http://www.iaccarino.de/silvio/stuff/visualassisterrorlog.zip with a new logfile - I have reproduced the error 4 times before I've closed the IDE. I'm using the Visual Studio 6 scheme and I have customized it. Now I've reset the whole vs2005 settings to standard - problem still persists. |

gotcha! I've bound the escape key to the close file function. After removing this bindung the problem is solved.
It seems that the back to standards function will not reset keyboard bindings. |

Thank you for the update, I have added a FAQ just in case anyone else runs into this problem.
http://docs.wholetomato.com?W317
I have just tested resetting the settings in VS2005 here, and using:
IDE tools menu -> Import and Export Settings -> Export selected environment settings -> Reset all settings
Reset all of my keyboard settings, including File.Close, so I am not sure why that did not work for you. |
