Currently the only way to invoke Autotext that works on some selected text is via the menu (or an appropriate shortcut assigned to that command). However, Extract Method can be invoked via the hovering refactoring icon. Would it be possible to add the Autotext command to the refactoring menu for selected text?

Have you tried shift + right click -> insert autotext ?
