It isn't purely a code refactoring but I would find the ability to highlight/select a string in a source file and string resource created from it very helpful.
AfxMessagebox(_T("My Message Here"));
becomes
AfxMessagebox(IDS_MyMessageID);
Or even just creating the resource and leaving the id in the clipboard so I could use it as I needed.
