Hi,
I just tried to install VAX 1555 on LH Beta 3 but the setup crashes. Older 14xx and 15xx versions also.
Here is a crash dump:

I have asked about this, since I don't currently have this installed. From memory Longhorn is the new OS, is that right? I have not been paying that much attention |

Hi feline,
yes, Longhorn is the codename of the next version of Windows Server. The codebase is supposed to be shared with Vista, and IIRC VAX does run on Vista. So I didn't expect any difficulties here - well, sometimes one is out of luck.
As I do some server development I test early with Longhorn. But running VS without VAX is a pain.

VA definitely installs quite happily on Vista, both 32bit and 64bit, I do have both of those running here. |

So the behaviour with Longhorn is really strange. Maybe the call stack does give some hint? A crash occurs also when I manually regsvr32 va_x.dll. The crashing setup seems to get quite far, so that all the files are copied. Maybe it is the registration phase where the setup crashes. |

Just a follow up if someone has the same effect:
Disable DEP as described in the post below for devenv.exe and the VAX setup exe.
http://docs.wholetomato.com?W294
That solved the installation crash for me.
