I have a gpf on versions 12xx->1554 during VA installation.
GPF appears on or after the file VAssist.dll.
DEP is off for Visual studio, I have administrative and debugging rights, I've tried installing to non system folders.

I have Vista business, and it started after the reinstallation of the system (it is connected to the private domain at work) and the user is a domain user.

I will try installing on native user later.

Clearly this is not supposed to happen. You say "it started after the reinstallation of the system", were you running Vista before this reinstallation?

Did anything obvious change that might offer a clue as to the cause?

I have emailed you about this via the forum.

I've reinstalled Vista on the same computer. The only difference is that I haven't activated windows yet.
There is no clue yet, I will tell if there is any. I have the latest updates from MS.

Is there any way I can give you some sort of log? I'm trying the sent version now
At least I can give you the debug info from visual.

So much for that version. Are you running a 32bit or 64bit version of Vista?
Do you have any anti-virus, or any other type of scanning software installed? I am wondering if something could be interfering with the installer.

I have Vista Business running here without any problems, but this does not prove much.

Do you have CVSNT installed?

I am just thinking back to your statement "DEP is off for Visual studio". Can you try turning off DEP for VA's installer, or disabling DEP entirely to see if this helps:
