It would be great if Visual Assist worked with MS Platform Builder. It's particularly useful there because it doesn't have IntelliSense or anything similar.

Is this some relative of Microsoft embedded visual C++ 4? VA does support embedded VC++4

It's not really a relative. It's an IDE that's intended to create platforms with Windows Embedded. I.e., create tailored operating systems, whether based on Pocket PC or Smartphone, or anything with a completely different look. It can also be used to develop drivers for Windows Embedded.

Interesting.

Unfortunately we don't have any current plans to add support for more IDE's. We have enough to do simply keeping up with the IDE's we currently support.

Are you able to edit code in a different, supported IDE and use the compiler from this IDE?

If I'm not mistaken, Platform Builder is pretty close to eVC4.

Personally I don't know anything about Platform Builder, but the comment that it does not even have intellisense is a little "concerning". This suggests a fairly big difference from eVC4, which seems to be a modified form of VC6.

Maybe I should clarify this: Platform Builder is very different from eVC4. eVC4 is for writing applications for Windows CE (et al.). PB is for writing modifying Windows CE itself. Its typical clientelle are OEMs - HP, TI, HTC, etc. I.e, companies that make embedded devices - phones, handheld devices as well as many other non-consumer embedded products. It requires a special license from Microsoft.
