Hello,
Is it possible to check the serial number of installed Visual Assist? I've got a lot of licenses (1user) and would like check who is using each license.

If you go into the VA Options dialog, and go to the About node (VA 15xx) or the System Info node (VA 16xx) and you will see s "Licensed to:" line. This gives the email address and support end date of the license installed on this machine.
Hopefully you can easily match these to your list of license keys, since these two pieces of information are in the first line of the key. |

I've tried doing that but I've got about 70 machines in different places so it's not exactly what I am looking for.

You could check the registry keys: HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Software/Whole Tomato/Visual Assist X/UserKey HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Software/Whole Tomato/Visual Assist X/UserName
So you would have to check when that user is logged in to the machine.
AFAIK thats the only way to check, minus feline's suggestion. |

I don't know any way to get the full license key back out of the system, but there are a couple ways to make getting this information easier.
Firstly, if you go to:
VA Options -> About -> Copy Info
This places a block of text into the system clipboard. This text contains the "Licensed to:" line very near the top. Lines 2 and 3 to be precise.
Second method, if you run regedit and look at the string value:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER \\ Software \\ Whole Tomato \\ Visual Assist X \\ UserName = "some text here"
You will get the single line of text, holding the email address and end date. So any script or program that reads the registry and dumps this entry to a file on the network might do exactly what you want. |

Unfortunately "Userkey" is empty one every computer in my network. Information with email, number of licenses and suport end date is not enough for me because I can't compare this to my records. I've got only serials without emails, dates.

This is odd. Can you email me about this please, via the form:

including this thread ID or URL in the description, so we can match it up. |
