I suggest to "unify" and extend the configuration options for coloring:

* Add the possibility to define a background color for each class
* Add the possibility to specify "bold" for all classes, not only for "local symbols"
* Treat "local symbols" just like every other class
* Treat "matching brace" just like every other class

As for "stable symbols" it's kind of tricky, since you can have stable functions, stable structs/classes, stable defines, ... . Well, I don't know. But since I never use the "stable" option, I don't really care either :) Maybe it would be OK to leave that one as being "special", i.e. just as it is right now.

Maybe you could even move all those color settings out of your options dialog and into the IDEs options dialog, at least for 2005/2008 (should be possible with 2003 too, but I'm not sure).

That way VAX' options dialog would get smaller for a change, now how about that :)

Use the source, Luke!

I am not sure what you are asking for here. If you try to specify a different colour for each class individually then you are going to run into big problems, since the options dialog is not going to know about all class names.

We try to avoid changing the background colour, this is very hard for us to do reliably from outside the IDE.

And I do not understand what you mean by treat matching brace like a class either.

When I write "class" here I mean "symbol class", like "local symbols", "preprocessor macros" etc. - not the C++ keyword "class".
