I am running VS 2005 and I just installed VAX. Once I installed VAX right clicking on code became very slow. It takes about 4 seconds for the popup menu to appear. It's almost unusable. After that everything seems to work fine.

I'm running Windows xp (Professional x64 Edition) Version 2003, Service Pack 2, on an HP with Intel Xeon 2.66 GHz cpu and 8 GB of RAM.

The application itself is very large, but all of the files were parsed at start up time. I haven't tried restarting or rebooting, yet.

Is your file in a Linux Samba share or in any other shared drive?

Can you try disabling VA via the menu item:

VAssistX -> Enable/Disable Visual Assist X

and see if this makes any difference to the speed of opening the IDE right click menu?

Is this happening in all files or only in specific files?

I restarted VS and the problem went away. I hadn't disabled VAX but I do know the problem started right after I installed VAX.

The problem was with all files I tried. I don't think it was a shared drive, but I don't know much about network config. I'm pretty sure the drive is not shared and it's on my local machine. (And there's no Linux in sight around this place.)

Glad it is resolved. Hopefully this was a one off problem.
