Hi,
I'd like to be able to configure the background on the brace matching highlight. Both when a match is successful and when it's not.
It's kinda hard to see the brace as it is, it only changes color and goes bold. A different background would help. Like screaming red on match error and something more subtle on a successful match. Light grey or so.
Great tool otherwise! :) |

I'd like to know what is the status of this. I also would like background of braces to be highlighted to spot the their scope quicker.

This is working for me now in VA 1738. It is supported in all IDE's except for VC6. You can set both the foreground and background colour in the IDE options dialog -> Fonts and Colors page:
IDE tools menu -> Options -> Environment -> Fonts and Colors -> Display items = VA X Brace Error
IDE tools menu -> Options -> Environment -> Fonts and Colors -> Display items = VA X Brace Matching

I'm using VS2008, and I noticed "Brace Matching" item in Fonts and Colors list. I tried changing those values, but obviously no luck. I never scrolled much further down on the list to notice "VA X ..." options. I just never thought that some VA's option would be outside the the Options dialog.
Maybe you might want to put a short note in a tooltip or at the bottom of Display tab in VA X options dialog. Also, maybe Quick config MAX mode should automatically add bleak background color to braces.

These extra colour settings are documented here:

but that only helps if you know where to look for them  We are looking to update / change the VA options dialog to make this clearer, so you can set the colours from one place:

| I just upgraded to 1738 and even though I have my colors set to Lime and Red respectively, whenever they are highlighted they go black! This is annoying cause black is my background so they disappear... :( |

Hmmmm.... so i downgraded back to 1736 and then my braces went black again too!
I went to the prefs dialog and saw that it was still set to lime so i set it to pink and then they reappeared in pink. Went back to prefs dialog and set them to lime and now they are lime again.
Perhaps an install issue? |

An installer issue sounds quite possible. I have seen very occasional problems with VA settings when installing / upgrading, but so far we have never been able to reproduce these problems on demand, or pin down the cause *sigh*
Hopefully this is now fixed, and is staying fixed. |

| In VS2008 (VisualAssist 1827) the Brace Matching/Error color options in the Tools>Options>Fonts and Colors dialog have the background color locked to White. How can I change this color? I use a dark background, and the white blocks are distracting. |
