Sometimes VA parses .asm files and does it incorrectly. It is enough to open .asm and .c/.cpp/.h files in IDE. E.g.
C:\\Program Files\\Microsoft Visual Studio\\VC98\\Include\\_DBDAO.H
C:\\Program Files\\Microsoft Visual Studio\\VC98\\CRT\\SRC\\Intel\\CHKSTK.ASM

I see this effect in VS60 only (VA 1724).

What IDE is "VS60"? I do not recognise this IDE name. The file paths suggest Visual Studio 2003.

Using VS2003 and VA 1724 I have just opened the two files:

C:\\Program Files\\Microsoft Visual Studio\\VC98\\Include\\_DBDAO.H
C:\\Program Files\\Microsoft Visual Studio 9.0\\VC\\crt\\src\\intel\\chkstk.asm

VA is not active at all in the .asm file, and I am not seeing any obvious problems in the header file. What am I supposed to be seeing?

Sorry for misleading. "VS60" is Visual Studio 6.0. I have no VS2003 and can't test it, but VA+VS2005 works perfect.

I suppose you will see many-colored .asm file. Words will be highlighted random in different colors. At the same time VA will be inactive. At least Navigation bar will be hidden.

If I open the only .asm file in IDE, then I see no problems with colors, and the whole text is in black. But after opening some of files that VA can recognize (e.g. .h or .c), the colors in .asm file become invalid.

I am seeing the same effect here. Thank you for the clear description.

case=26916

For now the workaround is to add .asm; to

VA Options -> Projects -> Extensions -> Extensions to ignore

after doing this, and restarting VC6 I could no longer reproduce the problem.

Yes, it works even without restarting VC6, thank you!
