When using Visual Studio without VAssistX enabled I can commit a suggestion using a parenthesis -- ( --.

For example, I can type:

this.m_oListener.BeginAcceptSocket(new

and VS will show me 'AsyncCallback' as the best suggestion. I then press the left parenthesis to commit my choice and continue on coding.

With VAssistX enabled, my selection is not committed and it just ends up as

this.m_oListener.BeginAcceptSocket(new (

This stalls my coding and is quite frustrating at times.

In the options I have "Any character not valid in a symbol" selected to commit suggestions. Parentheses are not valid in a symbol so should commit.

Any help here would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Jason

It should work if you have turned on

VA Options -> Advanced -> Listboxes -> Selections committed with: Any character not valid in a symbol

Can you please export your VA and IDE settings and send them to me:

VA Options -> Performance -> Export Settings
IDE tools menu -> Import and Export Settings -> Export selected environment settings

so I can import them here to see if I can reproduce your problem here. Please submit the files via the form:

http://www.wholetomato.com/support/contact.asp

including this thread ID or URL in the description, so we can match it up.

Do you use any other Visual Studio plug-ins?

The only other plugin I use is VisualSVN.

After playing with it a bit more, i have found that a parenthesis will complete a suggestion after a dot (ie when specifying a method) but it won't complete a suggestion when i have typed 'new '.

Just sent off my settings.

I got the files, thank you. Unfortunately I wasn't able to reproduce your problem using VAX 1738 and VS 2008 SP1.
Member listboxes which appear after . are handled slightly differently.

Can you please go to:

VA Options -> System Info -> Copy Info

and paste the details (from the clipboard) into this thread. This will give us the basic information about your setup.

Can you please generate a log file to see if it will contain any useful information about this problem:

What VisualSVN version do you use?

I tried VisualSVN 1.7.1 but wasn't able to reproduce the problem, so it doesn't seems to be a compatibility problem.
