In emacs I can split a window in two buffers and display a different file in each buffer. Is there a way to do the same with VisualAssist?
There is a split control on each VS window, but it doesn't let me edit a different file in each pane.

Unfortunately no. I have never tried to map keyboard shortcuts to this.

Great, that works! On VS 2003 I redefined Window.TileHorizontally to CTRL-X, 2 to have the same emacs split window editing.

I can't find the action to go back to just one window tho (CTRL-X 0 in emacs). Did you also know the action name to maximize VS 2003 windows?

The IDE can do this. How you do this will depend on the IDE you are using. One method is to use MIDI mode, rather than tabs, so you get windows that can be tiled.

Alternatively in VS2003, VS2005 you can right click on the tabs and select "New Horozontal Tab Group"
