It should have that glassy, shiny polished glass icon look that many new icons have. The crudy old tomato takes away from the pinache of a new build. In my view! |

Are we talking about the tomato on the VS splash screen? What I don't like about it is that it's stripy, rather than the redness varying continuously. But I guess if you're limited to a fixed pallette, that's understandable. |

On my end the "VA-View Tomato Icon" does look like a 4-year-olds drawing with a palette of 8 colors. Not as bright and good-looking as the Splash-Screen-Icon... |

The symbol in the VA View must use a 16-color palette provided by the IDE. We are fortunate in that two of the colors in that palette are red (bright and dark.)
Check out all the icons in the IDE toolbars. They all use the same palette.
The icon in the Help|About tab of VS.NET gets to use a different palette.
We will consider changing the fancy tomato to the one-color version, or the limited-color version in the IDE splash, for sake of consistency.
(Changed palate to palette.) |

Come on guys, you are able to make the IDE shine in all colors like a xmas tree and now you tell us you cant make a it show a nice high-color icon (which is btw supported by the OS)? No way. |
