I am experienceing a problem with 'comment' auto-texts.

For example, I type: /** and the autotext insertion pop-up appears, so I hit return to instert the text and instead of what is expected, I get the following inserted in C#:

/**
*

and I get nothing inserted in C++.

This bug only appears to affect comment related autotexts. Ordinary code autotexts (like say, 'switch') work as expected. I can work around the problem by clicking the entry in the pop-up that appears, but taking your hands off the keyboard kind of defeats the purpose

My system information from the about box is as follows:

VA_X.dll file version 10.0.1214.0
Licensed to:
VA4 License:
DevEnv.exe version 7.10.3077.0
msenv.dll version 7.10.3077.0
Font: Courier New 13(Pixels)
Comctl32.dll version 5.82.2800.1106
WindowsNT 5.1 Build 2600 Service Pack 1
Single processor

We can reproduce the errant behavior.

There is a nuance in the behavior of Autotext containing comments. In build 1214, VA X should force you to select such expansions with Tab, not Return. This behavior existed to accommodate the /* entry for Autotext and the frequent need to type /* and Return. In build 1215, we will rename the trouble-making Autotext entry and let Return select on all occasions.

We expect to fix the C# problem you report at the same time.

When you type /* and Return in VS.NET, you get a new line and * on the new line. This happens without VA X enabled. This behavior of the IDE conflicts with our Autotext expansion in build 1214, hence your * on the second line.

We will make sure /* works as expected in build 1215.
