The functionality of the SIW/FIW drop lists and the Find Symbol/Open File in Workspace dialogs are more or less the same. Yet it is annoying that items selected from the SIW/FIW drop lists are added to the history window, but items selected from the dialogs are not. I really use more often the dialogs (Alt+S, Alt+O is very convenient) so I dont see these symbols.
We acknowledge the inconsistency, or better, consistent but flawed behavior.
If you want shortcuts for the dropdowns in the VA View, trying assigning VAssistX.VAViewFIW and SIW. (Unfortunately, we'll whack the assignments if we reset at install.)
