The integration of this editor into the options dialog is a big improvement over the last version (VS.NET). However, it is pretty kludgy for being in a GUI.
How about replacing the big edit box with a list box and an edit box. The list box lists everything to the left of the colon (':'). For example, "for", "do", "#in", #im", etc. As you sit on each one, the new edit box would show and allow editing of the completion for the selected list item. For example, sitting on "#p" would show "#pragma ". This would get rid of the 'FF' symbol and the colon.
Having a button to type the double-S symbol would be nice, too.

This is a great idea. It should be a piece of cake compaired to the other things you are doing. I also like the button for the cursor place holder idea.

We have grand plans for such a control. Supporting Autotext is easy. We need to do a bit more to support Code Templates. We would use the same, or similar, control for both.
The task is on our list to address after VA X reaches a general release. |
