This is not a bug report, but a question about something I am almost positive I saw here a while back. Is there a way to sort a group of highlighted lines? If there is, I can't remember how to do it. What I do remember is great joy when I saw that it could be done. Thanks |

using VAX 1223 on VS .NET 2003 * highlight the lines * open the VAssistX menu * select tools * select sort selected lines
you can also add a button for this to the VAX toolbar, which is what i have done |

Is this available in VS.6? I've heard so much bad about VS.Net that I'm reluctant to switch. I don't see a VAX menu, just a toolbar. |

Sorting is available in our Content menu of VC++ 6.0. Shift+Right+Click in a source window. (Note: We expect to revamp our Context menu in the coming months. It is rather stale.)

If you are a avid sorter, assign the command to a key.

Thanks, I should read the features section again I guess. Is that information available on my local machine? |

I have added the sort button to the VAX toolbar and it doesn't cause anything to happen. The tool tip says it will sort the select lines and the status line at the bottom of the screen says it will sort the lines, but nothing happens when I press the button. Sort works fine from the shift-rightClick, but I don't like waiting on the context menu to come up. Is this a bug? |

using VS .NET 2003 and VAX 1235 the sort selected lines toolbar button works fine for me. i have been using this button for quite a while now and have never had a problem with it.
silly question, but you have selected the lines before pressing the button haven't you?
i didn't need to restart the IDE when i added this button, but have you tried this anyway? |

Yes, I added the button some time ago and have restarted the IDE several times, even had to restart the computer once (not because of WT). I'm using VS6 instead of VS.NET. I wonder if that has anything to do with it. I thought maybe there was some other option that I had to select or perhaps I had to bind the button to the command somehow. You just dragged it on to the toolbar from the customize option? |

correct, i just dragged the button on and it worked.
having said that, the button isnt listed in customize on my home (VS .NET) machine. i am not sure which version of VAX i am running at home, but i havent updated it for a few weeks.
i suspect these are both machine specific problems for what thats worth |

We can reproduce the problem in build 1236. Sort does not work when run from the toolbar button in VC++ 6.0.
