Yes, this topic is - in close reference to shakesbeer - about spell checking...
Just found that the spell checking does not always underline words which are wrong.
e.g.: encasulates is obviously correct since VAX does not underline it with the red wiggly line. But clicking on spell check, reveals that it doesnt know this word and, correctly suggests encapsulates. (as you can see, this word is from a comment) Whats up with that? |

Just pasted it in some comment here and it is underlined. Is it used as a variable in the code?

Words that are misspelled are not underlined when you open a file until you type another misspelled word. This behavior is by design, if we recall correctly. We let you fix what you were doing when you last were working on the file. Something like that.
This quirk applies to misspelled words in comments, and mistyped symbols in code.
Might this be what you see? In other words, if you type blahblah and space, do encasulates and blahblah get underlined?
Are other words underlined at the time you expect encasulates to be underlined? |

I could understand this behaviour. It might be that this was the case here. Althoug, the file contained this comment long time, was saved, modified, etc. Not sure if other words where underlined or not (that file does no longer exist in a way that would allow to repro this case now). I'll try to keep an eye on this behaviour.
It is anyway a bit confusing - it does find wrong words, but not if... Hard to understand, not intuitive. At least after a spell check, remaining wrong spelled or unknown words should be underlined. |

I'm not sure I agree with the design decision. It seems to me that words should always be underlined if mis-spelled, even when the file is newly opened. Maybe there's some situation I haven't thought of — but it sounds as if you can't think of it now either. |

Um, what? So the better my typing gets, the harder you make it for me to see my typos? That can't be right.
Sometimes VAX finds misspelled words, and sometimes it doesn't?
Have to agree with everyone else: ugh.

Fixed in build 1272.
Misspelled words are underlined when a file is opened. |
