I typically use VisualStudio 2003, and have a license for the same. On the same machine I installed Embedded Visual C++4.0 with the intention of trying out some pocket-pc programming. Problem is that the VAX try-and-buy dialog pops up when I bring up Embedded Visual C++4.0 If I enter the VAX license that I use for Visual Studio 2003, It doesn't like it. When I tried the old Visual Studio 6.0 license key, it didn't like it either.
Have you guys tried Embedded Visual C++ 4.0? The gui is the very similar to the old Visual Studio 6.0 IDE.
