Funny bug this one: VS2003.NET, C++

Use the default "Find" dialog to search for an word which appears in a file that is not open (set the option to "Search in current/all project"). When the IDE opens that file, the file is not syntax colored until you put the focus manually into that file, or you close the Find dialog.
Irritating...

Coincidentally, I noticed this yesterday. At least, I think we're talking about the same thing. I see it when I'm in the Replace In Files dialog (Ctrl-Shift-H) and I use Find Next to jump into a not-previously-open file.

It's slightly worse than Andreas suggested. The VAX Context and Definition bars don't appear either, which means that the source code all jumps down one line when you close the dialog.

yep, same thing. Find and Find/Replace both behave the same way.

i cannot reproduce using .NET 2002 and VAX 1246. the file is syntax highlighted when it opens. i have closed and re-opened the IDE, to try and clear any syntax highlighting cache that VAX may be using.

i will try with .NET 2003 tomorrow at work.

*oops* it helps if you use the right find dialog

i am getting the default IDE syntax highlighting in the cpp file, which on this test case looks quite similar to the VAX highlighting.

i had been looking for no syntax highlighting at all, which didnt help. confirmed.
