Hi,
this is really annoying: often I write code and decide that a class will have a new method, but I'm in code that will call this new method before it is yet created. So I have say a local variable pointing to an existing class, and start typing what will be the new method. VA opens a pop up window showing the existing protocol for the class, but I just type away since I know the method is not there (I have yet to create it), when I type the '(' to finish the new method name with '()' VA replaces the new method name with whatever is highlighted in the popup, thus erasing what I have just typed.
Maybe it's what you guys want as behavior, personally I find it very annoying. This is with version 1283.
Regards and thumbs up for a great product,

hi st80rules, maybe you have selected: accept with 'any character not valid in a symbol' in Options/Text editor/Suggestions |

Yes it seems to be related, but I see no hint of solutions. This related thread speaks of method overrides and so forth, but in my case it's a very simple class that doesn't inherit from anything. I still think that this is a VAX problem. |

did you follow the link in the second thread? currently this is how VAX is supposed to work, since it is reproducing the default IDE behaviour.
now and then i also run into this problem, so you are not alone in this. given that VAX is doing something sensible, if you can call copying the IDE sensible we are effectively asking WT for a design decision change. |
