I customize my DevStudio toolbars quite a bit. I move the buttons I use onto the menu bar and get rid of all other toolbars. It takes a few minutes but it's worth it.

Sometimes in that customization, I put one of the VA buttons on the menu bar. But everytime I install a new version or uninstall an old version, it completely blows away all of my customizations.

I don't know if this would happen if I didn't have VA buttons on my customized toolbar. I certainly don't like to make a habit of uninstalling or installing VA. But I have to say, it would be nice if doing that didn't force me to re-customize all over again

See this thread, this one and especially this one here.

'nuff said about that, and yes, it is Microsoft's fault!

(By the way, CompuWare's DevPartner Studio does exactly the same during Setup, but it doesn't even warn the user about it!)

I think I've said this at least twice before, but obviously the install kit isn't pointing the finger loudly enough at Microsoft... Maybe a link that says, "Report this Microsoft bug!" that e-mails Bill Gates, or something...

I totally agree, Larry!

Not only warn the user (he cannot avoid it anyway), but also BLAME MICROSOFT in the same Dialog...

One problem is that there is no dialog on initial installation. Of course there's no choice then, but I've argued before that it should still pop a dialog blaming Microsoft. Most users think it's VA's fault, and this is their first impression of the product.
