Try pressing "Use Defaults" in Tools|Options|Environment|Fonts and Colors. Close the dialog and your source windows should be colored. Reopen the options dialog and set your custom colors. |

Are you using some sort of eastern-language IDE (like russian or chinese)?
Some more Infos about your environment would help us to help you... |

Do you have any russian characters (within comments, for example) in your sourcecode? Could you try to delete those characters? If so, does removing them fix the enhanced syntax-coloring? |

Try this. In the IDE, choose 'Tools, Options'. Under 'Environment', select the 'Fonts and Colors' page. In the 'Display Items' listbox, select 'Text'. Click the 'Custom' button next to the 'Item foreground' combobox. In the color picker that appears, change the 'Red' by one: that is, if it's 255, make it 254; if it's 0, make it 1, etc. Now save these changes. Does that fix it?

As you have discerned, the problem occurs with a Russian version of W2000. Hmm... this might be tough to debug with that OS.
Do the settings for "Identifier" appear the same on the two OSes. Check Tools|Options|Environment|Fonts and Colors.
Is the term "Idenfier" identical in both OSes. |

Hi king,
do you by any chance have the string "setup" in your project path? There exists a bug where projects in such pathes are not syntax colored when they are opened from the Windows Explorer. Opening the sln file from within VS.Net by choosing File->Open Solution... from such a path works on my machine.

Hello SvenC!
You mentioned a bug with projects containing 'setup' in the project path. Is this a bug of Visual Studio or of Visual Assist? Is this bug to be solved soon? Otherwise I'll change my path, because I open Visual Studio from explorer nearly every time...

there is a case for this, so it looks like it could be a VA bug. unfortunately i cannot give you an estimate on when this might be fixed. the work around is to open the solution from the IDE file -> open solution menu, or to change the path.
