Since the introduction of Visual Assist in 1999, we have included one year of technical support with each license purchased. Starting with Visual Assist X, we enhanced the terms of our support to include all major and minor upgrades we introduce during coverage.
Customers who purchased or upgraded to Visual Assist X have support coverage that expires sometime after April 1, 2005. Your expiration date appears in the About node of our options dialog.
Customers who purchased Visual Assist .NET 7.1 or Visual Assist 6.0 but did not upgrade to Visual Assist X have support coverage that has expired or is about to expire. Starting with build 1300, customers who have not upgraded to Visual Assist X will need to renew support to install new builds.
Your license to run Visual Assist is perpetual. Expiration of technical support means only that you cannot run new builds without renewing support.
Starting with build 1300, we will maintain an archive of builds. Each build will be listed with a release date. You can install the latest build available to you without renewing technical support.
Support renewal will be available for purchase when build 1300 is available. There is no point in renewing earlier since coverage begins the date of renewal.
We will eliminate our Visual Assist X Upgrade beginning with build 1300. Support renewal will be available to customers of any prior version of Visual Assist, including Visual Assist 4.1.
Cost for support renewal will be $59 for one year. We will offer a discount for a short time after build 1300 is released.
Cost for Visual Assist X will increase from $99 to $129 shortly after build 1300 is introduced.
The increase in price for Visual Assist X and cost of technical support will offset directly the cost of developing our software. For developers who use Visual Assist X frequently, we believe the increases are relatively minor. For those who develop infrequently, the increases may make purchase or renewal prohibitive.
Visual Assist X has grown in scope over the last several years and we are committed to improving its value and quality. Our price increases will make everything happen sooner.
