I ran into a weird problem when installing VAX AFTER installing the latest platform SDK. For some reason, the latest platform SDK, when it sets the "include" and "lib" environment variables, tacks a "." onto the end of each path. So it will do something like "D:\\Microsoft SDK\\Include\\.".
When I launch Visual Studio for the first time after installing VAX, I get a crash report saying something like "Cannot set default values for include directories". I tried uninstalling VAX, and the problem went away. Reinstalled VAX and the problem re-appeared. Then, I changed my environment variables to remove the superfluous ".", logged off, logged back in, reinstalled VAX and that fixed the problem.
That is all the info I have on the problem. I am assuming that VAX grabs include values from environment values, so I am guessing that was the issue though it could be something else I'm not aware of.

which OS, IDE and version of VA are you using?
i have just tried adding the environment variables: INCLUDE = C:\\Program Files\\Microsoft Visual Studio .NET 2003\\SDK\\v1.1\\include\\. LIB = C:\\Program Files\\Microsoft Visual Studio .NET 2003\\SDK\\v1.1\\Lib\\.
to a win2k test system, and the .NET 2003 IDE loads fine with VA 1299. |
