since I failed in my simple UML graph suggestion I'll give this a go This plugin has a very nice hierachy browser which would fit in va very well. Unfortunately his plugin doesn't work in .net very well. http://esbrowsers.sourceforge.net/overview.shtml#HierachyBrowser I use alot of OOP so the current class view is utterly hopeless and doxygen etc are all external and very clumsy. The other views are nice also.

i have looked at the picture, and read the text, but i am not that much wiser
the bottom half of this picture (the class members) seems to be VA's HCB. is this correct?
the top half does look interesting, if it is doing what i think it is doing. when you say this does not work in .NET very well do you mean recent IDE's, or do you mean with C# or other .NET programming languages?
have you enquired to see if the plugin author has any plans to update the plugin? if he does it could well be quicker than waiting for VAX to do something similar.
having said that, this is an interesting idea for enhancing VAView.

hehe, yeah it's not that obvious so here's a test. I like the 'show inherited' button.
------------------------------------------ - inherited off
------------------------------------------ - inherited on
-------- I'd have an option to filter out constructer/destructors and I'd also put non local inherited stuff in a different catagory or perhaps colour the background a slightly different colour to differenciate them.
ps with VA view it only changes on mouse over.. can it also change while you move the caret around? (an extra rightclick option?) |

right click on the HCB (the bottom part of VAView) and turn on "show current scope when typing" |

ah but that's different. Mouse over will also give you info out of the current scope, whereas that... erm gives you what it says :)
another ps the control+m view is somewhat nicer in BeSweet (fields are on in this shot)

assume i don't understand what you are talking about with regard to the HCB and moving the caret around.
as for the alt_m list (current functions in the file) the picture looks nice, but it looks less useful to me. with the VAX list i can type to filter the list down to the relevant items, and then pick the one i want. the problem with not placing the class name before the function name is that if i have more than one class in the same file (rare, but it does happen) i cannot filter the alt_m list to only show me class A functions by typing the classes name. so i would argue this is a cosmetic improvement, but less functional
the other picture has strange icons in front of the names, but they are meaningless to me. i presume they are part of your point, but unless you tell me what i am looking at the point is lost on me |
