Hello,

I am not sure about the upgrade policy.
I am running build 1287. Do I have to purchase a new license for the later builds?

Here's the license info:
VA_X.dll file version 10.1.1287.0
Licensed to:
VA X:
VA.NET 7.1: <deleted>@<deleted>.com (20-user license)
VAOpsWin.dll version 1.2.0.4

the key piece of information is when support ends, which should be listed in VA options -> about

if this is before 18th June 2005 then you can upgrade to VA 1301, but you will need to upgrade to run the 14xx builds.

the details are given here http://www.wholetomato.com/downloads/index.html

Since you don't see a date in the About node, your support period has expired. It's time to renew.

You are welcome to send your license to us via email to confirm.

OK, that explains it.
So, if I understand correctly, I can upgrade to 1301 but anything higher requires renewing, right?

I'll see what MIS has to say but I doubt they'll budge until we switch to VS 2005

Your assumption is correct -- you can run 1301 but need to renew support to run anything later.

As for VS2005... Our 14xx builds support VS2005 B2 and we plan support for VS2005 for the foreseeable future. You get new feature and bugs fixes for your current IDE if you renew support, and you get VS2005 support when you're ready for it.

Unfortunately, I don't make purchasing decisions.
At least when we move to VS2005, and 1301 will not support it, I'll have an excuse to demand an upgrade.
