The VA X setting "Text|Completion|Display suggestion...|Any character not valid in a symbol" does not make any sense to me.
As it is working now, it basically means that if VA suggests anything, you MUST accept it.
I would have expected that it will exclude things like space, equal sign, etc.

Now, when I want to type "a = 1;", VA will pop up "assert()" as soon as I type "a" and there is no way to not accept it (besides turning this feature off).

Hit the <Escape> key.

I must confess, though, I can't think of a use for this feature... I think <Tab> and/or <Return> are enough. Under what circumstance would I hit any other key to accept the suggestion?

Well, I could Imagine that certain character may trigger accepting it (like ".,-=([") but "Any" is a bit too general.

We agree the option has limited value. It's tough to code with it enabled if you are accustomed to Tab and/or Return.

The option was added per request of some VB users. Apparently, they like selecting with non-symbol characters. The caveat is VA X displays many more listboxes, particulary with suggestions enabled, than VB ever did. The option might be without value even for them.

We considered accepting with a subset of characters as Uniwares suggests. The problem is which subset and how will the user remember. Our first request was to accept with space which Uniwares omits. Even without space, typing "a=1" is difficult.

We will wait for more feedback before we tweak the behavior.

What about let the user choose which set of keys to use? If someone wants to use F16 then let it be it.
