I am using VAX 1218 on VC6 (w2k) for C++.
Although I have "accept suggestion with Tab" checked, I can no longer accept suggestions using the tab key. It used to work in 1216, but no longer works for me in 1218.
Accepting suggestions using ctrl+space or return still works fine. |

We cannot reproduce the problem. Accepting with Tab works fine for us.
Do you have "Tab" checked on the "Text Editor|Completion" node of our options dialog?
Just to make sure we are speaking of the same listbox, are you trying to use Tab to accept from a listbox with tomato icons? |

Yes.

Yes. And completion listboxes, too.
Curiously, the three dialog options do not seem to affect the behaviour of my IDE at all. I can uncheck all the options, and *still* get behaviour where suggestions are accepted using "return" and "any character not valid". Only "tab" does not work.
I wonder if there is some mismatch between what the dialog is displaying and what VAX is using. Is there any way that I can collect more information to help you track this down? I would love to turn off the "any character not valid" behaviour, and this might kill two bugs with one stone.
BTW, I have discovered that if I enable "Open Completion listboxes when tab is pressed", then as well as opening listboxes, the tab character will now also accept suggestions from already open listboxes. Normally, I have this option off. I wonder if (in your testing) you had this option checked?

| I came across the same problem. What I found was that you have to check "Open completion listboxes when Tab is pressed" in order to be able to accept completion text with Tab. I also found that Enter will accept completion text even though I have that option disabled. |
